character.
CHARACTER NAME: Eifewyn
AGE: 12 (Sylvari are born fully formed adults)
APPEARANCE:
Minus her shoulders and sword. Her "hair" should be more pink. She also has green/blue bioluminescent markings that appear in the dark (eyes also glow purple).
BRIEF WORLD INFO:
The World of Tyria
No one's sure exactly how long ago Tyria came into being but known history puts it over 11,000 years old, back when Giganticus Lupicus and Elder Dragons still roamed the world. It was originally believed the Six Human Gods created the world, however it was later proved that the gods traveled there from another world.
Nothing of the world is known before this time, and it appears the only races that survived were the dwarves, forgotten, jotun, mursaat, and seers. At some unknown point the Human Gods brought humanity with them to Tyria. Where they were encouraged by one of their gods to spread across the land. Eventually they established Ascalon, which had once belonged the charr.
Sylvari
Sylvari are omnivorous humanoid plant beings that are born from seed-like pods that grow in the branches of the Pale Tree, or the Mother Tree. The Pale Tree was planted over 250 years ago by a human named Ronan and a pacifistic centaur named Ventari. Together they cared for the tree and from them the tree learned much about the world. Including the contents of a marble tablet written by Ventari that became known as the Ventari Tablet.
Twenty-three years ago the first twelve pods appeared on the Pale Tree and from them emerged the firstborn sylvari. Who now act as the elders and ruling council for their kind, along side Mother. Some six or so years after the awakening of the firstborn the second generation of sylvari appeared. And after that time between each new generation grew closer together until there was no distinguishing generations.
While a sylvari's body grows within a seed pod their mind grows within the Dream of Dreams, that is a collective of all the Pale Tree's and sylvari's memories and experiences. There they learn the basics and what they need to know about the world. The Dream also provides them with information that will better help guide them on their path after awakening. While some sylvari might share a Dream most do not. This is what makes each sylvari unique. They also learn the tenets of the Ventari Tablet, which they follow and discuss once they've awakened. Every sylvari awakens as a fully formed adult.
However, there are some sylvari that thing the teachings of the Ventari Tablet and the Dream to be a bad thing. They believe that that is not the true way of the sylvari. They call themselves the Nightmare Court and will do anything they can twist the Dream to Nightmare and turn all sylvari into beings like them.
There are some sylvari that have decided they want more privacy than the Dream (and therefore empathic bond all sylvari share) provides or want to escape a fate of becoming enthralled by the Nightmare so they cut themselves off. They moved away from the Grove and other sylvari so that they could live in peace. They call themselves the Soundless.
Quick run down of sylvari biology.
BRIEF CHARACTER HISTORY:
Eifewyn awakened from the Pale Tree roughly twelve years ago, she hasn't exactly kept up with the passing time so she's not entirely sure, during the Cycle of Dawn. After her awakening she spent a few years in the Grove, learning more to prepare herself for the world. During that time she fell in love with Garwyth, a sylvari she remembered from her Dream. They were happy together until Garwyth was captured by the Nightmare Court and turned. Eifewyn did everything she could to turn her lover back to the Dream but it was impossible without nearly losing herself to the Nightmare as well. In the end she was forced to watch him die at the hands of a Warden.
She returned to the Grove to recuperate after but could not longer find comfort in the dream. Between lack of comfort in the Dream and fear of turning to Nightmare she left to join the Soundless. She spent a few years with them, learning to block out the Dream and cut herself off from the empathic connection all sylvari share through the Dream. But even the Soundless weren't safe from those of the Nightmare. After one raid Eifewyn fled and didn't stop until she was as far as Lion's Arch, a city founded on the coast by pirates.
She lived there for a few years, making money by doing little jobs here and there or occasional prostitution. On occasion the little jobs she did would take her away from Lion's Arch and she found she really enjoyed the travel. She learned so much more about the other cities by actually visiting them rather than talking to people. So she decided to save her money so she could travel on her own time.
She traveled, finding she still had to work on occasion just to make sure she had enough coin for lodging or food. And given she had tastes for the more expensive things in life she went through coin more quickly than she thought she would.
Of all the cities she visited she found she really enjoyed Hoelbrak, despite the cold. It was so different, cold with huge architecture. Close with nature but there wasn't much in the way of plant life. It felt perfect for her and for the first time since leaving all of sylvari behind she felt a bit of peace. Since she's chosen to live in Hoelbrak, amongst the norn, she's taken more interest in the Elder Dragons and finding a way to deal with them.
PERSONALITY:
All sylvari are naturally curious, however Eifewyn has lived long enough now that much of that natural curiosity has been satisfied. Her inquisitive nature is still there, it just takes something very new to her to bring it out.
She's either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid, always willing to put herself in harms way to protect those she cares about (but otherwise you can forget about it). She can be rather rash, making decisions quickly that more often than not get her into trouble. However, she almost always seems to find a way to get out of it. She tries to think things through before doing but it doesn't always work out that way.
She doesn't trust people as easily as she once did but it doesn't take much or very long to earn her trust. She still likes to believe everyone is capable of good unless they're a slave to something like the Nightmare. She's a people person and loves to talk with others, to learn all about them and where they're from. Witty banter and sarcasm are things she enjoys greatly. However, she's not to fond of helping out others unless there's something in it for her.
She's pretty good at reading people. Give her a few minuets to study a person and she can tell you their tells. She's observant, although not the quiet observer one normally expects. In fact, she's quite the chatty loud mouth. Although that doesn't mean she can't keep a secret. She has little trouble keeping secrets when it suits her.
She's not typically quick to anger but some buttons, when pushed, will unleash a wrath that people will never want to see again. These buttons include killing the helpless, betrayal, or hurting someone she cares about. Otherwise she's a perfectly pleasant individual to be around. Well, at least when she's not complaining about something being in terrible condition or being hungry or whatever else that displeases her. She has no qualms about killing someone if she can justify why it's better off they're dead.
She likes to be pampered, she loves the good things in life. She might overdo it when it comes to cleaning, messy or disgusting surroundings cause her a great amount of displeasure and will result in everyone getting an earful of her disdain. Her preference for cleanliness and order includes herself. She's always very careful about her appearance. She likes to keep herself occupied with anything, whether it's useful or just the company of another person.
ABILITIES:
As a Mesmer Eifewyn is capable of creating solid illusions of herself that act upon whatever orders she gives them. These clones can last for hours but are easily broken if enough damage is done to them (basically a few really good hits will make them shatter). She's only capable of having three clones up at one time. Each clone looks exactly like her and will also hold whatever weapon or items she might be holding at the time.
She's also capable of creating magical disguises for herself and others. However it can take months to craft a new disguise. So she currently just has one for herself (to make herself appear human if she wants). Although she never uses the human disguise because humans are soft and squishy and pink.
Mesmers are also capable of causing targets to become confused, disorientated, or even make them fall asleep. They are also capable of turning invisible for short periods of time or they can turn allies invisible (no more than ten minuets, however breaking their concentration can break the invisibility illusion). They are also capable of short range teleportation as well as creating portals for allies to pass through. They can also create forcefields that break under enough damage.
Mesmers are also capable of turning an enemy into a moa for a few moments.
She's trained with various weapons, particularly the two handed swords and staves but can also fight unarmed.
As a sylvari Eifewyn is capable of regrowing limbs as well as growing clothing from her own body (sylvari are plants so they're basically just growing their body in a certain way). She also has an empathic bond with plant life and is capable of some control of it. As in she can't push it beyond it's natural limits but she can make it grow a certain way or grow faster.
POSSESSIONS:
Aside from the clothes she's wearing she'll have her coin-purse which contains 15gold, 54 silver, and 12 copper.and a whole lot of karma She'll also have her Jotun Greatsword and a basket containing two apples, a bottle of melon juice, three blueberry tarts, a loaf of saffron bread, and one roasted moa drumstick.
